Winds of the World

Rhonda Larson performs an intimate and multi-faceted “solo” flute show entitled, “Winds of the World”, with her ‘Virtual Band’. She takes the listener on a journey around the world with an assortment of ethnic flutes and her Gold flute, woven together by her stories. Among the variety of flutes are Indian bansuri, crystal flutes, Pan Pipes, Native American flutes, Celtic whistles, and more.

The workshop will take a look at several different genres of music and how the flute can contribute and enhance live performances and recordings. We will talk about the nuances of playing that will vary from genre to genre. And we will do a bit of self expression through improvisation.

Irish/Celtic music is really popular and fun to play! Like all musical styles, it has its own set of characteristics regarding sound, ornamentation, nuance and feel which cannot be expressed adequately on the printed page. This workshop will help all flutists to sound more authentic and not like a classical geek when playing this music!
