Session Description:

Explore concepts of the Chekhov Acting Technique and potential applications to flute performance. This interactive workshop utilizes physical exercises to connect the body with emotion and acting/movement work to boost the imagination. Participants will then apply these principles to flute performance. Come ready to get up, join in on the exercises, and play your instruments. The goal is to encourage collaborative learning, empowering artists to infuse authenticity into their craft and unlock a fuller spectrum of artistic expression.

ARTIST NAME

James Elliott Lynch, a seasoned artist, intertwines 28 years of flute mastery with two decades as an actor and singer. From school bands to principal flutist of the Evansville Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, his high school journey concluded with a captivating Japan tour. At Western Kentucky University, his flute performance major shifted to a BFA in Musical Theatre. Despite this shift, James’s commitment to music persisted, including a memorable Russia tour with the WKU Wind Ensemble. James went on to completed an MFA in Acting at Kent State University, refining his skills in the Chekhov Technique. Completing his MFA, James established himself in NYC, cultivating a diverse creative resume in musicals, plays, cruise ships, and concerts as an actor, singer, and flutist. In the post-pandemic Midwest, James continues to explore his passion for all forms of the performing arts.
