Laura Lentz
Laura Lentz is a flutist, collaborator, and teacher-mentor dedicated to sharing music by today’s composers, collaborating with others to create exciting new work, and teaching the next generation of young musicians and artists. Laura’s debut recording of music by JacobTV has appeared twice on WNYC’s “New Sounds” with host John Schaefer. She is the founding flutist and Artistic Director of fivebyfive, a collaborative-minded chamber group which has received numerous awards and support for its imaginative programming. A dedicated teacher-mentor, her new book, Modal Flute Warmup (Conway Publications), encourages discovery in one’s flute playing through a warmup approach that uses modes. Based in Rochester NY, Laura teaches a private flute studio, collaborates with a wide range of artists, and is on faculty at the Eastman School of Music’s Institute for Music Leadership where she teaches a course designed to empower students to seek funding for their creative projects.
