The Madison Flute Club began in the summer of 2002 as an adult extension class at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The class continued into the spring but was canceled when the instructor moved to Italy to be married. The flute choir continued to meet weekly at the home of one of the members. Through advertising, performances, and word of mouth, the group soon outgrew the living room space.

With almost 30 members, the flute choir now rehearses weekly year-round at the Bethany United Methodist Church and has expanded to include an auditioned chamber choir for advanced members, and two youth choirs in addition to the full flute choir. Additionally, Madison Flute Club host a series of regular educational workshops that are open to the community.

The Madison Flute Club is a registered non-profit education, 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization and a member of the National Flute Association.

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Flute Studio, under the direction of Dr. Cristina Ballatori, is an active studio and growing studio dedicated to achieving excellence as musicians, flutists, and music educators.  The UW-W Flute Studio fosters a supportive and dynamic learning environment with a focus on developing the fundamentals of expressive tone and strong technique to create artistic, versatile musicians.  All UW-W receive a weekly private lesson with Dr. Ballatori, and attend a weekly Studio Class where they perform for each other and discuss special topics related to flute performance and teaching. Active in the community and dedicated to outreach, the UW-W Flute Ensemble performs concerts throughout the region. The studio regularly hosts guest artist recitals and master classes on campus and all UW-W flute students have the opportunity to participate in numerous studio sponsored events throughout the year, including the Flutiz Navidad Holiday Community Flute Choir and Food Drive and the UW-W Flute Day.
